Do you need a wee?

When I am about to go out I ask myself, "Do you need a wee?" The answer is, "No," but the damage is done. I can no more go out without visiting the toilet than I can leave five Maltesers in a box.

Planning a blog tour for my next book I need an author photo. I feel it's cheating a bit to use one of my old ones. (Very old ones.) So I ask Husband to come and take a photo of me with freshly-washed hair, posing.

He takes several. I look at them and hate them all. My nose looks big. (It is but I don't want that to show.) My eyelids are wrinkled, and my fringe is too long. I do the one thing I can: I cut my fringe.

We take Toby for a walk and I get Husband to take more photos of me in the hope that natural light is kinder. It is. I still have wrinkles and a big nose but they're not so obvious. I tell myself it's the quality of my writing I want to be and should be judged on. Then I panic about that.

Why am I so prone to self-doubt and low self-esteem? I am convinced it is more of a woman thing although I know many women who are happy in their skins, and comfortable acknowledging their abilities. (Okay, I know two, or maybe three.)

Perhaps when I am grown-up it will be different.

Just realised it's a Leap Year so we get an extra day! Think we should do something special to celebrate. How are you going to use your extra day?

I like this pic of you!
I think it's typical to not like our photos (as we get older) - moreso for women.

Even the most glam women tend not to like their own pictures. And when people say oh,that's lovely, great picture of you, it doesn't help!

I like your picture. You look very friendly. Does any woman ever like her photograph?
You've inspired a post - thank you! I need all the inspiration I can get . . .

I think you look great. I'm always surprised these days when I see a picture of myself and I like it. Just happened this weekend and I was shocked.

Its a very nice photo, but I know what you mean. I was 'Coloured' some years ago when you're matched with colours that suit you. I've stuck with them altho the colours that I was told didn't suit me I didn't wear anyway!

I think that's a wonderful picture of you.

Does the second X chromosome make women dominant for being insecure? There is something to that!

You are not alone as most people do not like their own photo, even though others (family and friends) may feel opposite. In your photo you look relaxed and your husband did a good job in my opinion. Good luck on the upcoming book blog tour, which admittedly is something I am not at all familiar with so will be curious to learn more about yours.

Your nose isn't big. You're not wrinkled. You look great. I'm the one who looks terrible. I'm old and ugly and I can't stand myself. I think we women are more insecure because we've always had so much pressure put on us to be thin and well dressed and have perfect make-up.

Love,
Janie

We have a bathroom by the front door. Wife says that she can't get past it. I had to return from an outing to use it yesterday before going on part 2 of the outing.

Whatever photo you choose, make sure it is in focus. The one in this post isn't.
