Today I put on earrings

It was a special occasion: my first trip to sit down at Verdi's for an ice cream since the very beginning of lockdown. That's over a year!

To celebrate I had a caramel shortbread sundae. (And I wonder why I don't lose weight.)

I was meeting up with Vivien, my old school friend, and we had an excellent catch-up outside - the indoors was open but there didn't seem to be a lot of social distancing going on.

Meanwhile, after seeing a photo of me from five years ago Husband remarked, 'You looked so young and slim in it.'

I need to think seriously about getting a Husband upgrade.

Although I have to admit, after years when I've proudly thought I don't look my age, it seems to be catching up with me now. All at once the years are piling on and I am ageing in front of the mirror. Ah well, it was good while it lasted.

I have a baseball bat I can send. Sometimes a good whack upside the head works wonders. Fancy ice cream places you have there. And now I want ice cream!

You deserve that sundae! You've certainly waited long enough to enjoy it!

When I first started going out I didn't wear earrings because they kept getting caught in my mask. Now they're no longer required for fully-vaccinated people in many locations, but I'm out of the habit of putting earrings on.

That sundae was made to be so very pretty!!!!!!

Was your husband’s comment in jest or just that he was not thinking? It made me chuckle though.

I would suggest you still look far younger than your age.

I the greater scheme, however.... even though it would be nice to look younger.... I try to accept my grizzly and grey outer appearance as a badge of sorts.... representing my life.

That's a real guy remark! Nevertheless the sundae and the company were fine.

They're more important than the little old lady looking back at us in the mirror!

Ice cream…YES!

At least your husband recognized that the slimmer, younger woman in the photo was you - unlike some husbands who shall remain unidentified.
