A lovely haul

This morning I ordered a load of books from the library; I picked them up this afternoon.

I'm trying to make sure the grandchildren don't forget who I am by having regular story times with them. I kept loads of books from when my children were young, and, in recent years, I've bought more in charity shops, but I was running out.

Children will listen to the same stories again and again but it gets boring for the story-teller so I asked the librarian for an assortment of books for different ages, and I'm very pleased with the outcome.

One thing I've found when looking through my 'library' for books suitable for the older boys is that books that my children enjoyed seem rather slow-moving compared to books published today. I suppose authors need to compete with video games and the like so have had to make it speedy.

But I have yet to master the art of reading, being able to see the words, turning the page, seeing the children, showing them illustrations, all on a phone. But it's worth it.

And driving to Mumbles to pick up books must surely count as essential travel.

I'm sure you're a delightful story reader, based on your audio version of your novel!

A great way to stay in touch with the sweeties for sure. Well done.

What a wonderful idea - story reading via internet/cell. Wish I'd have thought of it when some of mine were littles.

You are lucky, our library is closed. I emailed the council asking if they would consider a request and collect scheme but I'm not holding my breath.

Marvellous that you can do this, our library's shut, too. I definitely like the look of Boss Baby.
