Pretend it's a Saturday

I used to sleep like a log. I could sleep through anything. In the Great Storm of '87 I slept through a tree falling down across the road outside our house. I was oblivious to everything.

But over the last years something has changed - getting older maybe - and I wake up at least once a night, and usually more than that. In fact, one night last week was my worst night for ages. But last night I slept all the way through! My best night for even longer.

And I can feel the difference. I did some cleaning this morning and it felt far less of a chore than normal. However, having sat down with a cup of tea now, I fear I might slump.

I don't know about you but lockdown has altered weekends. Even though we're retired, so in reality weekends have ceased to be different from weekdays, they always felt a bit different. Now though it's just another day. And I don't think that helps with lockdown fever.

So this afternoon, I'm going to sit down and watch something I've been wanting to watch for some time: Pretend It's A City, with Fran Lebowitz. I'm not familiar with her work but the clips I've seen look entertaining. I'm not sure if Husband would enjoy it so it'll be my special treat.

Sleep is so important and lack of it is miserable. I don’t know what it is like to sleep through the night these days.

I haven't had a full good night's sleep since menopause 13 years ago.
