2+2+2+5=6

"Social gatherings of more than six people in England, Scotland and Wales will not be allowed in law from Monday 14 September with some exceptions.

"The new rule applies to people in private homes, indoors and outdoors, and places such as pubs, restaurants, cafes and public outdoor spaces.

"In Wales the rule applies to the same extended household but not to those under 11 in Wales in those households."

Not sure what this means but I am taking it to mean Husband and I can meet with Daughter, Son-in-law, Younger Son, and Nuora plus assorted children. Although we're not planning any gatherings just yet as we're waiting to see how school affects the children, who are already getting the traditional and inevitable back-to-schools bugs.

And in our lovely 1984 world we're being encouraged to spy on neighbours and report them. This, however, is not tale-telling but being responsible, according to the government Minister.

Is that so-called "New Math"?

Elder Grandson was sent home today as someone had tested positive in his class. The school will send homework for the next ten days. Oh well, it'll make a nice change....

In my head, yes, Debra.

Oh no! Well the school should have the system perfected by now, Sonata.

Here school is the unknown factor as well.

I get the impression a lot of people are now so confused by the ever-changing rules and laws that they've given up trying to follow them and are doing exactly what they feel like doing!

As for spying on your neighbours, who's going to do that if they rely on the neighbours in times of domestic crisis or illness? It would be completely idiotic.

Not everyone has neighbors who are helpful like that, sadly. We have neighbors that we don't know in person but they live around the corner or up the street, and there are a couple that have been having loud big parties off and on throughout the summer. But we don't bother to report them because we haven't been going anywhere and figure if anyone gets sick it will be them, not us!

The sixth form at our local school has already closed until October, Marie.

We saw about 12 people plus children in the local green space, Nick, but they were well-spaced, and I certainly wasn't going to report them.

Yep, Mimi, we 're keeping away from non-family as much as we can. Husband would like to put us back into total quarantine but I'm not having that yet!
