That's nearly an armful!

Just been for a blood test. Feel rather like Tony Hancock. (For those unfamiliar Hancock was a famous British comic in the 60s who did a famous sketch about giving blood.) Feels like they've taken half an armful.

On the plus side I didn't faint, which is always a relief. Hospitals aren't good places to faint in: the staff get all panicky and don't like it at all.

Yes, like the Two Ronnies slightly old-fashioned and very funny.

When I have blood taken I look away, sort of pretending I am not there.

I've never watched Hancock's Half Hour, although I've heard a lot about it. Just watched the clip - made me smile - thank you! I fainted once when having a blood test - the nurses couldn't find a vein and were making numerous 'prods', but getting nowhere. I thought I heard one say, 'Oh, it's gone in one side and come out the other,' which I took to mean the needle, and that did it - it was the last thing I heard till I woke up!

Each of us has things that bother us and things that don't. Fortunately, neither dental work nor blood work phases me. My dad gave blood to replace what my mom (or other family members or friends) needed during surgeries; but, in his day, the cutoff age for donating was 65. I think that the last time I gave blood was at about age 75 which put me at a total of about 8 1/2 gallons; but, my hemoglobin readings have always been too low since then and since hitting 80, I no longer bother going in.

On the other hand, you have a much higher tolerance for hard work (in a garden, for instance) than do I. After 30 minutes to an hour, I usually go in for a rest.

Although I never really liked Hancock himself, Polly.

Loved the two Ronnies though, Sonata.

That's what I try to do, Terra, and I've fainted, Jacqui. I've been banned from giving blood.

I think 30 minutes gardening at 80 is to be commended, CC!
