Knickers to you

So, as you may have gathered, I've been having a cull of my knickers. I have been ruthless and thrown lots away including baggy ones, high in my bottom ones and uncomfortable ones (okay, yes, I've put on weight, but, to be honest, they were always a fairly ambitious purchase).

I've put them in the bin and that seems a horrid waste but I can't believe anyone wants to wear anyone else's knickers, even if barely worn and washed and spotlessly clean.

I've also got rid of (as in bagged for the charity shop) those pink shorts I must have bought while under the influence of the spirit of insanity, a belt that came with something but has never been worn, and numerous t-shirts that looked nice in the shop but not on me, as well as the green shorts without a button (yes, i could have sewn on a button but that was never going to happen) that went in the bin.

On a different but connected note, this morning I did one of those endless time-wasting quizzes on Facebook, this time, 'What punctuation mark are you?' Well, I had to, didn't I?

It turns out I'm a comma. That seems quite appropriate; I am fond of commas, possibly too fond sometimes. I have a tendency to strew commas about but it's because I read my writing as I'm writing it and I like to breathe.

Gosh we seem to be of the same mind. That's my next task - clean out the undies drawer! lol And like you, I will put them in the bin.

I am about to toss some undies as well. Would do it now as I didn't realize how worn some I packed were, but feel more appropriate putting them in my own trash than while visiting.

Be ruthless, Leslie!

The ones I was wearing today (indeed am wearing now) were slipping down my bottom as I walked in the woods, Katney. Lucky I was wearing trousers. But you're right; it wouldn't do to put them in someone's rubbish bin!

I have a tip for my blogging pals: don't keep your current undies until so decrepit you must rubbish them. Buy news ones before a holiday but not to take on holiday! Take your current ones and enjoy parcelling them up in hotel/hut rubbish each time you change your smalls. Or, as is more often for me, until you are due to be hospitalised (or when you are repacking the hospital bag once back home after emergency. There is nothing better than returning home to gorgeous new undies!
And nothing worse than the risk of cleaners finding holey pants on your shower room floor so do not leave buying new until old is positively geriatric!

Good advice, Shirl!

I am a full stop (sic!), presumably periodically ;-)

Used knickers should be sent to your local Catholic priest for recycling ;-)

I would have thought most women had a sentimental attachment to their old pairs of knickers. Don't you have memories of past occasions on which you put them on or took them off and so forth? Or are you the positive type who doesn't dwell on the past and always looks forward?

Keeping them for long backpacking trips is one option ... but , as with last summer's washed out T-shirts , just replacing them is quick and painless .
And , let's face it , are you really likely to backpack up the Andes any time soon ? No , neither am I .
