Old miseries

I've just been to the doctor's to collect a repeat prescription for Husband. I notice they have a new receptionist.

She might be new but they obviously used the same criterion for selecting her: she's a miserable so'n'so.

Why are doctors' receptionists so cheerless? They rank alongside PO counter staff in the 'I don't really want to be here but I need the money' group.

Excuse me Liz...you can take me out of the PO list for sure...I ran a Post Office for 4 years, (afternoons only) and that was not the case at all...and it was in Wales!!!!

But I do know what you mean, and the questions they ask , as if it is their business!!!

I moved to a different surgery and the receptionists and doctors are much nicer there ;-)

I see things are no different in USA. Dr. receptionists perceive they are the self appointed protector of the doctor from his patient---> I have complained directly to physicians. AND POST OFFICE COUNTER employees are worst, at least in my town. Good thing I not others carry a gun. This guy might have already met an untimely end.

I wouldn't want to be where NitWit1 lives, might of got shot!!! Maybe I should take over a post office near you and show them how it is done! A better suggestion would be that I go to Sicily and help Welshcakes out with the problems in her ufficio postale!!

It's a prerequisite to be cheerless and let power go to her head.

The receptionists at my doctors are lovely, they always smile and you can have a laugh with them. The main post office is manned by staff with no sense of humour at all but the little shop/post office is great.

Banks are a different matter - miserable gits, the lot of them.

I must be very fortunate: my doctor's receptioists are usually cheerful; as for the Post Office, I go to the local one run by Kenyan Asians and they are very nice people.

My Mrs was a Doctor Receptionist for a while... she job shared with Steve Bruce's girlfriend of the time... when he played for Gillingham... yes we are talking a while back here.

Anyway - she was miserable because the doctor was bloody useless, no good and time keeping, getting prescriptions wrong etc. etc. then she had all these people who came in instantly in a bad mood - well I suppose most are if not well.

Anyway - she hated it and soon got a job in London in insurance and left and never looked back.

Have to say our latest doctors lot are okay - even funny like offering you a 7am appointment and laughing about it when you say "Actually I was going to use the doctors appointment as an excuse for a lay in and going to work late"
