For this week's letter M, I've chosen this photo of mum and me, taken in the 1950s. My mum died 36 years ago. At the time of her death she was employed as secretary to the general manager of the South Wales Transport Company. From the mass of floral tributes sent to her funeral I remember one card.
The flowers were from a woman I'd never met, who worked in the SWT canteen. On her card she'd written, 'Good night, gentle lady, sleep tight.'
To take part in ABC Wednesday, go and visit mrs nesbitt's place.

Liz, this is a beautiful post. Your mother looks like such a lovely woman, and you have lovely memories, too.

I'm so sorry! You were so young to lose her. That message brought a tear to my eye. She was too young.
What a lovely photographic memory xx
I thought of doing my mother and grandmother - but didn't. I'm glad you did - this is such a sweet photo! :D
How strange. Your mum died when you were 19...in a few days, it'll be 19 years ago that my mum died! As I read the card sent by the woman who knew your mother, I thought that was such a beautiful tribute to her. Just think...to be remembered as 'gentle lady'! That says a lot about your mother's character right there. This was a lovely post, Liz.
What a lovely photo and tribute to your mum
