Questions to ask God when I get to heaven: number 1

Why slugs?

What possible reason did you have for creating them? I mean, what do they do? What are they here for?

But then I think: a slug could ask the same about me.

His justification for being in the slug world is equally as valid as mine is in the human world.

That's rather a depressing thought.

Yes, but slugs will slime their way into a bowl of beer and drink themselves to death.

That's true. But is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Slugs are (were) very useful to the Brits. When the foot-pound-second system of units reigned supreme (during Victoria's reign),
the SLUG was the unit of mass. Nowadays we all use the metric MKS (meter-kilogram-second) system of units, wherein one slug=14.5939 kg.

Dr. Stu is always good for a scientific tidbit, even if you didn't really want to know that ;-)

You see! I knew I'd prove to be less useful than even a slug!

Good question, Liz. Looking forward to the rest in this series.
