The spiders are turning

We have a spider who lives under the television. Most nights he runs out to check we're there. I've tried banging my slipper on the floor to tell him to run the other direction i.e. away from me, but he ignores me.

Last night I was chased across the landing by a spider.

A terrible thing has happened: they have worked out that we're more afraid of them than they are of us.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen lounge spider for a while. However I did see this:
a poor drowned spider in George's water bowl. (George managed to drink all the water while avoiding the spider. Harvey used to be the same with peas in his dinner.) Maybe lounge spider's foolhardiness took him too far.

It's a conspiracy!

I was in the shower this afternoon and a huge daddy-long-legs came hurtling down the bathroom wall. I kept one eye on him - difficult when you've got soap everywhere - to make sure he didn't approach my towel.

When George gets hyper and starts biting me more than his chewy toys I shut him in the kitchen for a few minutes to calm down but I have had a better idea. I am going to make him sit and watch 101 Dalmatians so he can see what Cruella de Ville does with fluffy puppies.

Alternatively I might get a water pistol as suggested by Ros at Zac's tonight.

On the news tonight I heard the announcer say, that in Burma, 'Any incarnations without government consent have been declared illegal.'

I can't put my finger on it but there's just something adrift with that sentence.

Almost there

Here's a photo to get those spiders into perspective. The little blob you see just below the shelf is the fat spider; that's how far up he has been pulled by skinny-legs since yesterday afternoon. About three-quarters of a tile.

I don't like to interfere with nature so I'm happy to let them get on with it. I did think about taking fatty and feeding him to Spid (now he is a BIG spider) but thought again.

Spider Wars

I spotted these two in the kitchen. You'll have to look closely.
The long-legged, see-thru spider is wrapping the big fat spider in web-thread in an effort to lift him up to his store-house under the shelf. The big fat spider was still kicking and fighting against it but seemed to be losing the battle.
