You know what it's like. You mention you want to do something somewhere on the internet or even just in real life and before you know where you are you're inundated with suggestions the internet thinks will help you.
How to lose weight according to the internet: wear this bracelet; no, wear these shoes; let me hypnotise you; silly, you're obviously hormonal, take these hormone regulation pills. The adverts that do take into account it might be what you're eating tell you: don't eat carbs for a month; eat only carbs for a month.
I've only ever been in one slimming group (Rosemary Conley) where the teacher said, "If you take in more calories than you use, you'll gain weight." I think RC is only online now, which is a shame as the meetings included an exercise session. And I can't do things online because I won't stick with it. Shall I go back to Slimming World? I did lose weight, slowly, with it but my brain fought it. How can you eat as much pasta/rice/potato as you want and lose weight?
And it's expensive. I've tried doing it at home and putting aside the money each week with the idea of treating myself when I reach my target - but then I've never got the right change, or, more likely, I 'borrow' it back.
I didn't mean to go into that long rant. I'm not going to worry too much about dieting next week when we're away. And therein lies the problem. Or one of them. I always have an excuse to put it off.

Next rant.
I fired off a quick email to Sir Keir Starmer this week following his appalling speech in which he said we were in danger of becoming an 'island of strangers'. He also used the word 'squalid' and said demeaning things about care workers.
Yes, we have to have an immigration policy but we do not have to be offensive and dismissing of the value immigrants bring to our country. Husband's surgeon was from Brazil and numerous nurses who've looked after him on his various hospital stays have been of a different nationality. Without immigrants our NHS would collapse. But maybe that's what all politicians want secretly. It's a huge expense and with an aging population the need for it can only grow, and the cost increase. We must fight for it.
I've also replied to my MPs reply to me re arming Israel. He says he is in favour of a two state solution. So I've asked if he has signed the letter from MPs asking the Prime Minister to support this. I somehow doubt it as he's a Starmer man, brought into the seat instead of a local man.
Oh, now that's curious. I did write an email to him. Yes, his email has one of those little backward arrows on it. But it's not in the Sent folder or the Drafts folder. In fact Outlook isn't receiving or sending any emails today. So where is it? And why not? And how do I make it?
I've tried restarting outlook. Maybe I'd better restart my computer. See you later.

Good rants, Liz!
Starmer is a terrible disappointment. He's not the man I'd hoped he was. Immigrant medical personnel have been the backbone of nhs and other important functions. So crude to descend to insults. Thank you for speaking up.
Don't worry about weight till after your trip, is my diet suggestion!
RE: Starmer, it's a complicated issue, but I have sympathy for both sides. To counter your argument:
No one (or not many people) are against talented professional immigrants working in the NHS, or any other sector. What they are against is their small towns being transformed beyond recognition in the past two decades due to rampant immigration (both legal and illegal) - and all the problems that brings with everything from getting a doctor's appointment to finding a home - and a myriad other problems.
For some reason, if anyone dare say mention that they do not like their high street full of barbers and vape shops (with very few customers, but still operating somehow), of hundreds of foreign young men moving into a migrant hotel in their town, and hanging around all day or driving Deliveroo e-bikes dangerously, or simply to live in a community surrounded by people who share their values, customs, traditions, and religion - they are instantly called a far-right extremist.
When an "asylum seeker" (economic migrant) arrives on a small boat, they are given accommodation, healthcare, food - everything they need, no questions asked - for free. Meanwhile, native Britons - many of whom are living paycheck to paycheck or struggling to even put food on the table - are pushed further down the queue. Tax money that could be going to help them, is being spent by the millions per day on people arriving here and expecting everything on a plate.
Starmer would never had made these comments if he and the Tories had done anything to address the problem, which normal, working class Britons are facing every day. That's why Reform has performed so well.
I think we’ve been talking about a two-state solution for almost 100 years.
What is a sliming group ? Anything like a slimming group but slimier ?
As I said, Anonymous, we have to have an immigration policy. We do not have to have abuse. I do not recognise your definition of an asylum seeker.
Totally, Stu.
1948 I believe it first came into being,
Thank you.
Excellent suggestion, Boud.
Weight loss is so personal what works for one does not for another. I wish you success on whatever path you choose.
Cathy
I understand your need for weight loss accountability. I have the same issue with exercise.
These were good rants! Next week will be a lovely break!
always good to get things off your chest and we bloggers are good listeners.
