I was going to do LOTS of gardening this afternoon - but it's too hot.
I managed to clear three little beds out the front and replant them.
Clearing them involved pulling up lots of forget-me-nots, all past their best. Forget-me-nots are wonderful: they produce a fabulous show of colour; they're easy to clear; and you know they're all going to come again next year. If only all plants were like that.I was going to do more but . . .

Yesterday, what a day. Back to exercise class in the morning. First time for ages and already my tummy muscles are grumbling. They usually wait thirty-six hours at least.
Then it was writing group in the afternoon. One thing is for sure: we laugh a lot. Quite a lot of it was directed at my 'poem'. There was me thinking it was tender and sensitive. It was declared weird, which was also true.
Then two grandsons turned up to go in the pool, arriving just as the the storm started. This was doubly unfortunate as it was also Zac's barbecue on the beach. Some messages flashed back and forth between leaders and we decided it would be fine to go ahead as the rain was due to have passed by 8 o'clock.
When I turned up at quarter to, Sean and Stu were standing there drenched as they'd been mid-barbecuing when the next downpour came. We retreated, about nine of us, under the shelter of the portico and ate burger surprise, the surprise being there was no burger, just bread roll, a slice of cheese, and some fried onions. Julie-Anne brought crisps so a few of us enjoyed crisp sandwiches.
Sean shared some thoughts on never giving up even when we think we've well and truly messed up, and we all said what we were grateful for that week. A surprisingly enjoyable evening. They're going to try a barbecue again next week.
But I won't be there! Yesterday I booked a last minute short break in west Wales. We'll be limited as to what we can do with Husband's energy levels, but just to get away and relax in different surroundings will be wonderful. I told Husband, "It's okay for you. You've had lots of time away with all your hospital stays, but I need a break!"

This morning I walked with Daughter and dogs to Pobbles. No matter how often I see it or how many photos I take I will never cease wondering at the beauty of this place we live.
And just before I finish, I want to go back to forget-me-nots. I was wondering what this little bunch of flowers in the garden was, and came to the conclusion they're white forget-me-nots.
Oh, and friend Vivien informs me that as I failed to get to see Operation Mincemeat in London they're bringing it to Swansea for me. That's jolly nice of them.

Our forget-me-nots are entering their fullness and looking great.
A nice little restful getaway will do you both good, I suspect! Rest and relax!
It's always hard getting back to exercise after a break. Enjoy your getaway.
It is good you are getting away for a few days! You deserve it!
Enjoy your break.
have a wonderful break
