A different perspective

Our almost-daily stroll took us around the old docks/new waterfront development. Lots of development but not a lot of life. It was grey with a chill wind but easy parking and flat so suited us.

Swansea used to be a world centre for copper refining and, in those days, the docks would be heaving with ships. The names of the ships bearing copper ore have been commemorated in this development in the list along the edge of the promenade.

According to a friendly passer-by one of the ships named was Zeta - although I didn't see that one. And Catherine Zeta Jones' grandmother was named for the ship.

I liked the way the builders coped with a lamp-post in the way.

Since arriving home I've started preparing a vegan savoury baklava for the Zac's volunteers Christmas dinner tonight. Photos to follow.

Also GrandDaughter1 and GrandSon2 have both gone down with chickenpox following their little sister's infection. It is very nasty.

I expect you have to stay clear of chickenpox at this point? The ship names are touching. Nostalgia as well as history.

Oh poor grandchildren, not nice, but they should be over it for Christmas.

You might like to go to Bristol in summer and do a tour of the SS Great Britain as I did a decade ago.

Chickenpox is no fun. Both of my kids had it one year when my oldest was about 6. She passed it on to my son for Christmas.
