I've started doing my birthday jigsaw.
It's challenging. As a lot of the edging was plain blue I decided I'd start on the fungi and work outwards. But that means I don't have a framework in which to work, and also, I forgot it was portrait not landscape so I've got my mat the wrong way around and the two sides too far apart.
So it's keeping me busy.

Everyone had a good time at Zac's volunteers' Christmas party last night.
Stu, our building manager, study leader, and chef, updated everyone on the progress of repairs, and then Sean explained our new plan for the new year - or as soon as is possible, when we're waiting for work to be done.
Basically we're stopping the lunches on Thursdays and Fridays and instead offering a big breakfast on those days to the most needy, the ones actually sleeping rough or with no facilities for cooking. We're also reinstating Thursday evening coffee bar.
Reasons for the changes: financially unsustainable, costing us about £400 per week; but also, and more importantly, we'll be getting back to our roots, our real purpose. We became a food outlet during Covid when we received some Council grants towards the provision, but our hearts are about building relationships, providing a support structure for those who are financially, emotionally, and often physically wrecked. That's been missing while we've been serving people in queues at the hatch - and our space inside is taken up with overflow from the kitchen. (And, not all those who come for food at the moment are in desperate need.)
So I'm very excited and thrilled that we're taking these steps.
I forgot to take a photo of my finished baklava but you know what it looks like! Here's my not-completely-on account-of-the-Maltesers vegan chocolate cake.

That puzzle is too cute. It made me laugh though because my husband used to not like puzzles. One of the first ones I had him do with me for a mushroom puzzle and it was truly one of the hardest ones I have ever done. We still laugh about it and vowed to never touch another mushroom puzzle, HA! Even though it was a pain, I still managed to get him into puzzling.
We haven’t started our winter puzzles yet. Maybe after Christmas.
Sounds like good changes will be in the future for Zacs
It's healthy to revisit your purposes now, not just keep on with the current pattern if it was only temporary. Often "temporary" becomes "what we've always done".
Why am I not surprised that maltesers put in an appearance on your cake?
Glad that you are carrying on with the mission in a way that seems best to you.
Baklava! Chocolate cake! I was already hungry, but now you've got me starving.
