Retro pudding

Three weeks - or possibly four - ago I ordered a punnet of plums from Sainsburys. When they arrived they were rock hard. As the weeks have passed they've shown no sign of softening.

Yesterday there were two that were going wrinkly so I decided to stew them and serve them with custard. I've not had stewed plums and custard for decades so I checked a recipe for sugar quantity. The recipe suggested adding some orange juice and cinnamon stick as well.

The plums were nice; the thousand shreds of cinnamon stick less so. Picking a twig out of every mouthful was no fun.

In prison this morning with a new chaplain and she was great!

They look good but the cinnamon isn’t visible.

That custard -- that's the cornstarch pudding I mentioned a while back!

Precisely, Marie! Hard to spot until you're chewing it.

Right, yes, that makes sense.

Hmm … whatever works for you, I guess, but I am not salivating. πŸ˜€πŸ₯ΈπŸ€“

I've never had anything like that but plums make me think of visiting my grandparents who had a plum tree in their yard.
