Cribs from around the world

All Saints' Church in Mumbles, the church of my christening, confirmation, wedding, as well as numerous family funerals, is the setting for an annual International Crib Exhibition. I went along today not expecting a lot but being amazed.

Nativity scenes from all over the world reflecting the culture of those places, varying in size from half life-size to teeny weeny, and in style from simple to extravagant. I don't usually post lots of photos but I have to because there was so much variety! If you don't want to go through them all skip to the end for the saddest one.

Bangladesh, terracotta

Cameroon, possibly ivory

Ecuador, from bread dough

Germany

Also Germany, a nativity pyramid that rotates when the propeller is blown.

Italy

Mexico

The largest, the one from All Saints' church itself.

Nepal felted

Peru, Mary feeding her baby

Peru, in a pumpkin

Peru, just loved the llamas

Philippines, from mung beans

Also Philippines, cane? straw?

Poland, from sweet papers

Russia

Vietnam, paper

Wales, pebbles

Holy Land complete with wall

What a marvelous gallery! I had favorites, of course, the bread dough being one, and all the Peruvian ones. Thanks so much for showing us, particularly the poignant last one.

What a fun exhibit!

How unusual, but the ultimate one is small and not clickable, so I can't tell what is sad.

Anvilcloud, it's a modern nativity scene made in Palestine showing the wall that now splits the country.

What an interesting display. I love how different they all are yet depict the same scene.
