I could have accepted this a long time ago but I kept hoping. So here is the done job.
Now you're probably thinking it doesn't look like she's thrown much away but I have filled three bin bags with toys for the charity shop and another with plastic recycling. There were of course some things I couldn't part with.
The house that would instantly fail a H&S check. The cot attachment that was never used on a cot but is still played with to this day.The record player that doesn't even work any longer, and the phone and twirly thing. All Fisher Price and all much loved by the children and grandchildren.
When it came to the bookcase it was the same story. I didn't get rid of one book.
Old favourites and new.So now the nursery is tidy - for now. And I reassure myself with the knowledge I can top up as needed from charity shops when Younger Son and family come to stay. And buy new for great-grandchildren - but not for at least ten years I hope.

When we were in Italy I spotted this unusual balcony decoration.
And it reminded me of the Dr Seuss story, What Was I Scared Of?

We have kept some toys from our daughter and hope to pass them on to great grandchildren sometime too. The grandies don’t play with them any more.
I remember the telephone, which jangled when the baby pulled it around! My son had one, more than 50 years ago.
Oh that phone, I remember having one.
The grandchildren still like to get out some of the toys and play, Marie.
The phone is a great one!
Enjoy your grandkids while they're still young enough to play with those toys! Some of them will be teens pretty soon, won't they?
I think it's a sensible idea to clear out and donate some of the toys so they can be used and loved by other children.
