Not forgetting the rugby and cake

The Rugby World Cup is currently happening in France with the first games last weekend - so we missed them. Both England and Wales won although by the sound of it Wales were pretty lucky. They played Fiji who'd beaten England in a 'friendly' only a couple of weeks before and who really had the potential to upset us all.

There've been so many problems in the world of Welsh rugby over the last couple of years that we've been in a bit of a slump and I'm not expecting great things. It will be good if they get into the quarter-finals, which means coming first or second in their group in this the first round, but that's as much as we Welsh can realistically hope for. That said, when was a Welsh fan ever realistic?

* * * * *

It had been GrandSon4's seventh birthday a few days before we arrived there so on the Saturday I made a cake. It's difficult baking in a strange kitchen with strange ingredients, including gluten-free flour, and a strange oven but between us, we did it, us being the grandchildren and me.

GrandSon4 was engrossed in his birthday Lego when GrandDaughter3 and I decorated it, meaning I did the decorating and GrandDaughter3 turned the work surface red with food colouring and ate bits of icing. It was impossible to get a realistic red colour so I ended up covering it in pink icing and then painting it straight from the food colour bottle. And then advised everyone not to eat it if they didn't want to get a bit hyper.

He has always loved fire engines.
