Cut-out dolls

Just discovered I'm speaking in Monty's church a week Sunday. Bit of a shock: I thought it was in October sometime. Good job I checked or it could have been an even bigger shock. Free choice of topic. Meaning I'll spend the next week trying to choose.

The latest edition of The Bay came out while I was on holiday. It includes my most embarrassing confession to date.

* * * * *

Before we went I picked up a few sticker books in charity shops for GrandDaughter3. They were fairy dressing-up books and she loved them. She was very careful about sticking them in and did a good job but I was dying to help. Of course she didn't want my help. If only she'd known how much I really wanted to stick dresses on fairies.

It was one of my favourite occupations as a child. Do you remember the cut-out dolls and clothes that came with comics sometimes?

Of course the clothes would never stay on properly but how I loved to do it.

The little tabs would jump off the shoulders! I think I was given a book of these, vague memories. Then I went on and drew my own paper dolls and clothes, remembering to cut around for tabs! Early experience of seam allowance. It was lovely. I might even do one now, for old times sake.
What an imaginative grandma you are. Just right for her

I used to love paper dolls when I was little. There was a magazine that came out once a month that had a new paper doll in every issue.

I loved cut-out dolls too when I was young. We used to make our own by cutting up "last year's" Eatons catalogue.

Now I'm off to read about your most embarrassing confession!
