We needed to be at Eurotunnel by about one so Husband said we'd have to set off early. Two days ago he said, "August bank holiday Friday is one of the busiest days of the year for traffic so we'd better leave at seven."

Yesterday he said, "Google says it will take us five and a half hours so we need to leave at six."

We reached the tunnel terminal so early we were able to catch an earlier train. Two hours earlier. And queue for ages at Starbucks and drink our drinks and eat our cake. It was probably the fastest and simplest trip we've had.

And while travelling I was flicking through a book on my kindle. It's called How to be happy (I think) and I came across this lovely phrase, apparently coined by Keats: negative capability. It means having doubts and questions without 'any irritable reaching after fact and reason.' That sums up my Christian faith.

Pays off to go early, I guess!

It's the "no reason" thing that we skeptics have some difficulty with.

Going early was a good plan. I like when things work out like that.
