On the assumption that M&S shoppers will be watching the coronation this morning I went to the library. The M&S car park is convenient - and it's for the village not just customers - and free.
In case you don't know, M&S is the poor man's posh shop. No, not poor. Workingman's posh shop.
It was wonderful. The roads were empty, there were plenty of parking spaces and nobody was getting in my way as I wandered around. I'd be in favour of a royal event every weekend if it's going to make my life easy. Except of course for the £250,000,000 it's costing.
By the way I enjoyed Lessons in Chemistry, although it was a bit slow to get going and then seemed to try to cram everything in quickly at the end.
One of the books I thought about getting today was twice as thick as most books and the writing was tiny. I put it back immediately. Can't cope with little writing last thing at night. Publishers should bear this in mind.
It's a grey damp day here, not the sort of day to feel enthused about anything. I am struggling to get my oomph back and have started taking a tonic, but maybe most of all I need to give myself a talking to.
Incidentally there's a coronation party in the village tomorrow complete with dinosaurs. I'm sure there's some witty comment to be had out of that but I'll leave you to make up your own.
In the meantime here's a quote from The Unvarnished Jesus by Brian Zahnd.
"His acclaim is by insult, his crown is made of thorns, his sceptre is a reed, the homage paid to him is done in mockery, his procession is to carry his cross through town, and his throne will be that very cross."

Nice juxtaposition of Jesus' coronation.
I hear the food bank $$ was diverted in part to cover Coronation costs. Literally taking food from the mouths of the poor. On the other hand, it did rain on them, in true Brit tradition. I remember it lashing down last time around.
I'm glad you had a nice unpopulated time.
