In a garden corner

To 'celebrate' the coronation I spent the day doing a tea party jigsaw. Finished it today but there's a piece missing!

In a gap in the rain I took a wander around the garden. I am delighted and somewhat amazed to find my climbing roses growing.

If you recall I bought one for either side of the arbour. I usually have the touch of death when it comes to planting but I made sure to buy good quality bushes from a respected trader. Seems to have done the trick.

I'm not sure if the tonic is having an effect but I do feel a bit brighter, which is just as well as I'm going out out three times this week! That's more than I've been out in the last year.

Tuesday it's a book event, Wednesday a talk and meal, and on Friday the Lord Mayor's having a bit of a do at the Mansion House. I've been invited as one of Sean's plus three, representing Zac's Place, which has been one of the Lord Mayor's charities for this last year. His term of office is coming to an end so it's a - well, I don't really know what it is but there will be nibbles.

And in a moment of enthusiasm or stupidity, I've agreed to speak to a church again in October. I can be carefree about it now; come the month I'll be saying, why did I agree to this?

Your arbour will be covered in roses in no time! And enjoy the upcoming social whirl this week!

I know about that agreeing to do something far in the future. I used to rationalize I'll probably be dead by then anyway, but up to now I never have been, so I had to do whatever the fixture was.

I can't help thinking a jigsaw puzzle about afternoon tea with a piece missing is a metaphor for the current state of affairs in the palace.

Ohhh!!!! So aggravating and unsatisfying when a piece is missing!!! I once hid a piece from my wife…. and when she became aggravated, I pulled out the piece, placed it…. and said, “I finished it!” :) She was initially a bit frustrated, but laughed…. after a few minutes. :)

Everything I plant dies so I've given up. Maybe I should try buying good quality plants and see if it works any better

Happy that your tonic is working for you.
