Thanks Doll

I was hoping to get a good photo of Toby but it's impossible: he never keeps still.

Why walk when you can run is Toby's motto.

I took him to Clyne Gardens today because a friend had posted photos on Facebook of some lovely metal animal sculptures there. I walked all the way around the park and even asked a couple of regulars if they'd seen the sculptures. No-one had and, indeed, I couldn't find them.

It turned out the sculptures had only been visiting for a photoshoot.

Now there will be people wandering around looking for them. And asking other people and soon the park will be full of puzzled-looking people.

Did spot some very pretty croci in amongst the fallen leaves though.

And some rather lovely octopi.

In Zac's this morning when I gave one of our guests a pair of shoes he said, "Thanks doll."
Now some women might be offended by that. Not me. I was delighted.

Tomorrow morning we're having a new and pre-loved clothes sale in Zac's. We're often given clothes that are unsuitable and rather than send them all to recycling Tamsin and I thought we'd try to sell the best of them. Some are brand new and some are even designer labels. I fear we may not have done a very good job of advertising the event though.

I did make a banner which Stu hung up for me today.
Now I thought I'd done quite a neat printing job on it . . .
Makes me wonder if the picture of Zaccheus really is a bit wonky as everyone else seems to think. (I was the one who gave Stu instructions on getting it straight when he hung it up.)

I wonder how the clothing sale went. I hope it would bring in a bit of money to the program.

Funny about the sculptures! You could write a story about it.. A mystery thriller. Go on, I don't have time!

"Thanks, doll" is about the same 1940s/50s slang vintage as "Thanks, toots" -- was this an older gentleman who said it?

My reaction to being called doll would depend on who it was. Some people can get away with it and some people just seem creepy when they do.

I'm with you, if someone says "Doll" or the like in a cute or friendly way (not creepy) I'm fine with it. I think too many people get offended these days. Of course, it can go too far and then it would be obnoxious.
