I've been meaning to write this since I bought my bras. (Finally wearing one today. They have a sort of "I don't know if I'm worthy" aura. Like my boots. I refused to wear them yesterday in case they got wet.)
Anyway I went to Madame Foner's with the intention of buying a bra. One bra.
I explained to the sales lady - simply so she'd understand why the bra I was wearing was a bit tatty - that I hadn't bought a new bra since before lockdown.
"You'll need two then, a dark and a light."
I was never going to leave with just one bra after that. To be honest I didn't even try. I gave up without a fight. I know my limitations.
So how I came away without the matching pants I don't know. Even after I'd explained that I wore the sort that come in packs of four from supermarkets she still brought the matching ones in to show me. Held them up against me, pointed out how special they would make me feel, left them with me while she gave me time to choose.
But I was strong - even though her disapproval was coming in waves.
Nuora (Daughter-in-law in Italian) needs to learn these techniques for when she has her market stall selling her wonderful colourful hand-made children's clothes.

Lol. A brassiere adventure. That woman is good for sales for sure!
The customer is very vulnerable there in her old underwear! I think I'd agree to anything just to get out of there.
I would have bought the underwear. I'm easily pressured, but I also love matched sets of undergarments. Under my clothes, I know I'm perfect. If I were hit by a car and taken to the emergency room, the entire staff would admire my lovely bra and undies and take superior care of someone with such good taste in underwear. I say go back for the pants while you can. Save yourself, my dear.
Love,
Janie
I have two white bras and one that's peachy-beige, simply because the store didn't have another white one in my size. That's about as fancy as I get.
Good job! I've always wondered about those matching underwear. Do people wash them out by hand so as to always have a pair to wear with the bra? Or do they buy multiple pairs?
