Went back to B&Q to get more stones for the arbour. When I got there I discovered that what I had feared had happened.
I'd chosen the stones primarily because they were the cheapest - much cheaper - but that was because there weren't many bags left when I bought mine. So of course when I returned for more they'd all gone.
Tried another place and found something similar and, while not as cheap, still not too expensive. As I said, I wanted two bags, and herein lies my dilemma.
They were on special offer: buy three get one free.
But you don't need three, let alone four.
No, but it's on offer.
I continued to argue with myself for a good few moments and finally opted for two. And drove home regretting it. I should have bought three.
But my fitness teachers would have been impressed with the ease with which I gaily threw each 25 kg bag into the boot of Mini. (For 'gaily threw' read 'groaned and threw'.)

My thorough hearing test scheduled for today has been cancelled, like they cancelled my first two appointments for the preliminary test. I think this earologist might be the unhealthiest man in the world. (Assuming he's been ill each time.)
So I'm working on my new novel. When I'm not getting a drink, messaging children, or blogging that is. When the man said you need to treat your writing like a pro he did mean procrastinate a lot, didn't he?

You did the right thing by only buying 2 more bags. Why have extra stuff to store? I hope this comment comes through and stays. Blogger seems to be eating my comments lately.
I don't know ..... I'd have probably bought the "3 get 1 free". The others will come in handy, at least in my experience.
I agree with Debra in your having done well with 2 bags. That does not mean that I wouldn't have followed Pam's lead, of course.
I don't know about your exercise people, but I am impressed. I console myself that you are much, much younger than am I - lol. I used to be able to handle 27 kg, but I'm down to 20 kg.
I agree with Debra too. These offers are tempting, but it's just more clutter.
It's hard to buy just the amount you need when there's a tempting offer. For extra material you'd be tripping over untill you find a use for it. If you ever do!.
Boud reminds me of when I was younger. If the fabric I was buying had only one or two more yards on the bolt, I was apt to tell the sales clerk, "Just give me the rest." even though it would not be at a bargain price. I've heard of situational ethics. Perhaps this is situational need?
