Channelling Maria

In spite of Husband's pessimistic predictions, the weather was lovely the whole time we were in Italy. Sunny with an occasional cool breeze but t-shirt and shorts weather definitely. For us that is.

Not for Italians. They were still wearing woolly jumpers, quilted jackets, jeans, and scarves. With temperatures in the 20s.

On Easter Sunday I accompanied Nuora and the children to the local church. A Roman Catholic service in Italian. The church was packed and though it was a very serious service without a lot of laughs the children in the congregation were so quiet and well-behaved. There was nothing special for them and I can't help but wonder how faith can develop. That said there were plenty of older children in the choir and the procession that follows the priest and I assume they're there of their own accord. Thankfully God can speak to us in spite of our surroundings!

I was also really pleased that Younger Son did a very good job of explaining Easter to GrandSon4 when he asked. All that time in Linden Church and being baptised must be still there in his memory.

But the eggs! You should see the eggs in Italy. I usually buy the smallest Cadburys buttons eggs for my grandchildren at a couple of pounds each. Nothing like that over there. All great big fancy eggs ranging from eight pounds up. I didn't get a photo but Kinder eggs are very popular, like this one.

Then in the afternoon we visited a nearby - hm, I don't know what you'd call it - beauty spot I suppose. Again it was very quiet. Apparently on Easter Sunday traditionally families go to church and then eat out - and that takes a long time so maybe they were all still there.

A walk up the hill to an old ruined castle.

With my baby

and my babies.

(A number of people on Facebook said the last photo reminded them of The Sound of Music, hence the post title.)

I'm very glad you explained about Maria. Here she's a historic hurricane that wiped out a lot of housing a couple of years ago in Puerto Rico which took a direct hit. When you started out with news of weather I wondered if Italy was in the path of a hurricane. Ah, regrouping now. Much better.
