No bombs away

We have just had the noisiest walk we've ever had - and that includes numerous walks with grandchildren.

Apparently, according to a lady down the road who has a tracker (is she a spy?!) there were two American bombers circling. They're supposed to be flying around Britain (again according to spy lady) but for the fifty minutes of our walk they were definitely circling Gower!

Ah, Husband has found all the gen.

It seems to have been a mixture of American F-15 and RAF Typhoon - which I'm reliably informed is the Eurofighter.

And they came all the way from over there to do that!

That's making it a bit personal.

I guess the whole of the armed forces is on full alert and practising. Just in case. Please God they don't have to go into real action.

I suspect it's psychological warfare.

Everyone's on edge right now.

No, it's letting Putin know they're very close to Russian air space. But your shirt may have triggered an alert, true.

Oh I see, Boud. I was a bit worried when walking as I was wearing a red coat and hat. You know, reds under the beds mentality.

It sounds like a showing readiness in case needed, which I am praying won't be necessary, and I am praying that this war will not escalate.

You may be surprised to learn that about 15 years ago Boeing had thoughts of re-designing the F-15 for stealth operations. You will not be surprised, if you noticed the noise, that there are no (known) stealth F-15s. F-15 is an old, but good, aircraft. When it was newly delivered to the air force, in the mid-1970s, I dreamed one night that I was out flying. The Cessna that I was piloting suddenly turned into an F-15 and I went supersonic in a vertical climb shortly after leaving the runway.

Not in a dream, I worked with the F-15 makers (then McDonnell Douglas, in St Louis, Missouri) on the Rapid Runway Repair/HAVE Bounce program in the early 1980s.
