Feeking for fuccour

On the Zac's Facebook page during Lent I'm posting an image each day to illustrate a word in a list provided by the #rethinkchurch initiative.

Today's word is 'preserve.' I am torn between a fossil - bearing in mind some people don't believe the world is that old - and a jar of jam.

I'm sure there must be another alternative. Hm, now thinking about cliffs, still geological but perhaps could make a good point.

Anyway, I've also been writing my radio talk. For reasons obscure - you need to listen to it when it's out! - I looked up the source of the familiar phrase, "in sure and certain hope". As you may already know it's part of the funeral committal service. Which makes it depressing that it's so familiar.

I came across a reproduction of the 1662 original document, where an s is printed as an f. (But only sometimes I notice, which is rather odd.)

I wanted to include this passage in my talk - as it looks not as it's meant to be read - but decided, as it's a Christian radio station, I'd better omit the first bit.

"of whom may we feek for fuccour, but of thee, O Lord, who for our fins art juftly difleafed?"

But I've had a right old giggle about it.

One of the words on the list was 'injustice' and I used this image:

Yes, those old timey "Fs" for "Ss" can be confusing! Your photo choice for "injustice" is perfect!

I expect you read it feated on a fatin fofa in Maffachufettf.

The sunflower is becoming more and more a symbol of resistance. Nice choice.
