Gousto!

Over half term Daughter decided to give herself a holiday and ordered a pack of ready-to-cook meals. She enjoyed them so when she sent me a voucher for 65% off my first order I jumped at it.

Four meals for two for £12.25 is a bargain. But what would they be like?

My box arrived today.

It contained all the ingredients for the four meals, pre-measured and packaged.
Along with the recipe cards. When ordering I could choose from sixty menu options. The variety changes each week.

Tonight I chose to make One-Pot King Prawn, Red Pepper and Pesto Orzo. Here are the ingredients.
It said it took twenty-five minutes to prepare but I never believe timings so started early - only for their timing to prove right. So Husband was able to eat dinner BEFORE 6.00 o'clock. (You may remember his insistence on that time?)
There was enough - with an accompanying slice of bread and butter - and it tasted fine, just not very exciting. We'll have to see what the others are like.

I certainly won't be doing this on a regular basis but if a good offer comes along then I wouldn't be averse to it. I am a little concerned about the lack of vegetables in the order. There were only two onions to cover four meals and I am in the habit of using two for most dishes. We shall see.

Unless you have a deeply discounted savings coupon like you did, those pre-packaged meal kits are an expensive way to eat. However, they are convenient and I guess that's what people are paying for.

We’ve tried those meals and have them occasionally. They are okay.

My neighbor tried them, found them dependable, though unexciting. As a good cook though, he missed the leftovers. The meals didn't have any, very well measured just for one time.

I guess now and then would work.

What a great deal! If I lived in England, I might consider it... except that you still have to cook.

They are both expensive and convenient, Debra. But really not that much less work than several simple meals.

Okay seems to be the word, Marie. We will see what tonight's is like.

I love leftovers, Boud.

This is true, Mitchell, not that much less work.

I friend of mine got a gift of several meals similar to those. I shared one with him and found it easy to make and okay tasting though expensive.
