Not all aglow

A good weekend even with its disappointing bits.

I had the five local grandchildren around on Saturday. The day before I'd been in a shop and seen something that had given me an idea for keeping them entertained.
'This afternoon' I said to the three who would sit still long enough, 'we're going to paint glow in the dark skulls and ghosts to decorate your houses tomorrow.'

Which would have been a wonderful idea if they'd glowed.

Even after four coats the ghouls were mere shadows of themselves. I don't know if it was something I did wrong but there were no instructions on the bottle of paint.

But the activity was fun nevertheless.

And after all that fun, Husband and I went to Elder Son's house to watch the rugby. Wales versus the All Blacks. With only half the Welsh team being available and half of the remaining being injured and having to go off in the first ten minutes the result was always going to be a foregone conclusion. We all knew the All Blacks would win; we just didn't expect it to be by quite so much. Hey ho, the burritos were very yummy.

Sunday afternoon we were all invited to Daughter's house for a Halloween party. I don't like Halloween but I do like pumpkin soup and cheese and chive bread.

Elder Son and Son-in-law had great fun opening the door to Trick or Treat -ers, commenting on their costumes and berating them for being dressed a la Squid game when 'You're too young to have watched that!'

And this what happens when you let grandchildren loose with face paint.

Too bad about the non-glow-in-the-dark paint! Nice skelly painting though.

That sounds like a lot of fun. Good thing the facepaint wasn't glow in the dark.

It was a washout here. I felt so sorry for the 5 year old across the road whose mum spent ages decorating their porch. It was so wet there were hardly any trick or treaters anywhere.
