Blackballed

Took Tamsin to Verdi's today to celebrate her birthday early. We um-ed and aahed about whether to go as the rain and wind first thing this morning were pretty grim but finally decided to wrap up and just do it.

Apart from a heavy downpour while we were mid-cake it was fine.

And guess what? I didn't have ice cream!

I know: it shocked me too. But Tamsin said she'd have a custard slice and I suddenly thought, mm, yes. And jolly nice it was too.

We even enjoyed a wonderful rainbow while we were eating.

I came back and began to prepare my pot roast. I asked Alexa to play Imelda Mae. She ignored me. I shouted at her. Several times. She still ignored me.

She did this yesterday evening too only responding to Husband's voice. So when he came into the kitchen this afternoon I said, 'Tell Alexa to play for me, please.'
He did so. She ignored him. He tried again. Then he remembered.
'I've switched off the electricity while I fix the outside light.'

Something of a relief. To be blackballed by Alexa is a step too far.

Alexa is getting a little uppity, if you ask me.

I have a similar problem with Seri - she ignores me frequently.
