First there was one. But he enjoyed it so much he brought his buddy.
Then today there was a heron in the garden!I went into the lounge and saw him walking towards our pond. I rushed into the study and fetched my camera just as he flew onto the roof of the garage.
I went upstairs, very excited, to tell Husband whose first comment was, 'Did you chase him away?'
'Um, no, I went to fetch the camera.'
'You'll be in trouble if he's eaten any of the fish!
He hadn't.

It is so unusual to see the heron on a building. Here it is anyway.
Hey, birds gotta eat too.
Did the one who brought his buddy receive a referral fee?
Love,

If you want to deter heron from eating your pond fish, lay chicken wire flat around the pond. It disappears quickly into the grass, you can mow over it, and herons don't like to walk on it. Doesn't hurt them, just puts them off. My friend saved his koi this way from a heron who started using the pond as his buffet.
