The dilemma resolved

I know you've been on tenterhooks so I'll tell you: we ate Christmas dinner in the kitchen!

Complete with quickly assembled table decoration with added chillies.

For starters we had blinis with smoked salmon, crab, prawns and Rose Marie sauce.

Followed by a pot roast. Not your traditional Christmas meal but my late planning meant I couldn't get what we'd wanted so this was a simple alternative. Traditional addition = sprouts. Less usual accompaniment to Christmas dinner, or indeed to pot roast = yorkshire pudding.

It looks a bit of a mess but it tasted nice.

After a suitable break, Husband had Christmas pudding with clotted cream while I had ice cream and raspberries - with a dollop of salted caramel sauce.

Before all that we'd had a leisurely day with a walk in the afternoon with Daughter and family, all socially distanced of course. I'd actually sat down and watched television - something I never normally get to do on Christmas day. And it was all very pleasant and enjoyable.

So I'm not sure why there was a big heavy weight sitting on my heart all day.

Well done, Liz. With that amount of food you'll be having leftovers for several days.

It all looks lovely and sounds delicious!
We'll all be able to to meet again, play with the grandchildren (I can just see my now teenage grandson's eyebrow rising!) and celebrate Christmas together next year. And we'll appreciate it even more after this.
