I searched online for somewhere that sells sofas with removable covers. Found one - SofaSofa - so checked where the showroom is as everyone knows you can't buy a sofa without testing it first.
Turns out it's reasonably close to us just north of Newport. Only problem is the area is currently - well from 6 o'clock this evening - on local lockdown ...

That aside I've had a very productive day today. I have sorted out the 'nursery' and been ruthless with DVDs and CDs, putting them all to go to the charity shop. Sadly nobody takes videos these days so they are off to recycling.
Four bags full of DVDs and CDs.But the nursery looks lovely. (Until the next time the children visit.)
The trouble with having a sloping roof is that, if you're 5'4" and you forget, you're liable to bang your head. Several times.
That is not the sum of my most excellent productiveness though. I also ... I need a drum roll here - please imagine it ... put this together all by myself.
That may not look like much of an achievement but for someone who tends to summon Husband whenever a screwdriver needs to be wielded, it is. I only needed the tiniest bit of advice about the order in which to do things; the rest I did myself.Of course I underestimated the number of children's books we have.
I have added some* to the charity shop pile; the rest have gone on the wall bookcase. *I say 'some'; I mean about five of course.
I thought I'd finished in the nursery when I noticed something else that needed squirrelling away. I had a quick chat to myself.
Me: How conscientious do I need to be?'
MeToo: How conscientious do you feel you need to be?
Me: I have been working all day.
MeToo: True.
Me: So suppose I am conscientious enough to hoover in the corner, is that enough? Do I have to be conscientious enough to scrub as well?
MeToo: I think hoovering is quite conscientious enough.
Me: I'm glad you agree.

Over the weekend Husband and I discussed the idea of renting a cottage in a remote corner of Wales probably in September.
Unfortunately everyone has already had the same idea.
As long as I want to take thirty people with me there are houses (mansions) available. If I just want to take Husband forget it.
Probably for the best with Covid numbers rising and local lockdowns coming into operation. But to have a different view from the window would be nice.

I need to do a big cleanout of CDs and DVDs too. You're inspiring me to get started!
I need to do a clear out of the kids toys here as well. They are out-growing many of the toys and books we have. Thanks for the inspiration.
I can recommend a stay at Gwesty Minffordd (sp) Hotel which is in the Mach Loop,
so if the weather is good, you can combine hill-walking for George with looking DOWN onto combat aircraft UNDER you at low level :-)
So it's noisy when they flash past 60 feet away from the promontory, at
500 knots just 250 feet above the valley floor, but otherwise very peaceful.
Well, thanks to you and your example, Liz, every flat surface of my apartment is now covered with CDs waiting to be sorted and culled. Yikes! And I haven't even started the DVDs yet!
Don't throw Alfie away! Grandson 4 won't have read it yet.
I’d love to read Smelly Bill 😂😂
I'm impressed with your decluttering and the grandkids room. How nice for them.
I could never get rid of my cds or vinyl.
AS we still have very young ones - though probably no more - I'm hanging on to most toys unless broken, Marie.
Sadly, Stu, George isn't up to hill-walking these days. But that sounds like an interesting trip for us one day AC.
I have thrown away ALL our CDs, Debra. We don't have the means to play them any more!
Oh no, it's only duplicates or books the children have shown not interest in that are going, Sonata. I love Alfie.
Smelly Bill falls in love and tries to change, Tams, but his inborn goodness shines through the dirt anyway!
We have an attic full of vinyl, Joe. Apparently it's Elder Son's pension fund ...
Congratulations on a job well done, Liz. I know how hard accomplishing such tasking can be. You reminded me, though: Although I've managed to rid us of thousands of vinyl (78/45/33 rpm) and hundreds of CDs and cassette tapes, we still have 100-200 VHS tapes tucked away that we never see. Gah!
