Husband has had TWO hospital appointments this week.
Both were via video links, the first for his neck/shoulder pain, the second for his stomach problems. Simple remedies for both apparently. Hopefully.
Exercises for the neck and a list of Don'ts for the stomach. Don't drink tea, coffee, alcohol, fruit juice or fizzy drinks. It's caffeine and acids that make these problematic it seems. Add to the 'Already shouldn't' list of fatty foods, and really what is left to live for?
Possibly chocolate. The doctor didn't mention it and Husband didn't ask. You have to have some fun in life.
Not that he's very careful about what he eats but I think we have a reasonably healthy diet, and he accepts that if he eats peanuts and drinks beer while watching rugby he is going to suffer.
But I wonder where will he get his vitamins if he gives up on fruit? Although that would be far more of a problem for me as it's a staple of my diet.
It's a wonderful year for blackberries. I don't know - and don't want to imagine - what was buried in the Tip over the years it was the town refuse dump but whatever it was it grows fabulous sweet juicy blackberries.

Hmm.... the stomach symptoms sound a little like gastroesophageal reflux. One other approach to potentially try that might be helpful if your husband does not want to give up those items would be to a) plan to avoid those items after dinner and potentially not eat after dinner.... and b) to take a daily dose of psyllium powder (dissolved).
These two ideas often quell gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) symptoms for folks with a) because it decreases the fullness of the stomach at bedtime (full stomach promotes GERD) and b) higher fiber intake (psyllium) tends to increase GI movement..... decreasing development of GERD.
Your chocolate cookies look WONDERFUL!!!!!!
PipeTobacco
Thanks, PipeTobacco. Yes, the doctor advised against eating in the evening. He is taking loads of medication for heart and thyroid problems with the resultant upset stomach.
My Mom in her old age was not able to tolerate raw fruit, but could digest cooked or stewed fruit just fine. I don't know if that would apply to your husband at all.
Don't drink tea, especially not at the airport in Novosibirsk (breaking news).
Plus, they often add a lump of yak butter there too; awful stuff!
I've got some lovely blackberries in the garden, the plant just grew. They're very tart though, I need lots of sugar with them!
These video link Dr. appointments are great compared to waiting at the clinic.
There are plenty of foods that contain essential vitamins other than fruit. There's vitamin C in lots of vegetables, for example. Jenny eats very little fruit and she's perfectly healthy.
The chocolate cookies do indeed look delicious....
