Yoga in the woods anyone?

Yesterday I joined a group led by Younger Son for a morning of yoga in the woods. It was an absolutely glorious day and wonderful for a bit of outdoor exercise.

YS started us off with some 'mindfulness' or as I'd rather call it being nature aware. He sent us off to find a 'sit point', which apparently is a place we choose where we can feel comfortable and concentrate on using our senses to notice how amazing nature is. Starting with our eyes closed to listen before seeing, touching and tasting. (I didn't do any tasting, just in case.) I brought three things home with me and later, while sitting in the garden, sketched them.

Then the yoga teacher took over. What is about this type of practitioner that makes them so serious? Each time I was tempted to giggle at my inability I'd look around and see only sincere calm faces.

At the end the teacher said to me, 'You've done yoga before, haven't you?'
'Not for fifty years.'
She was surprised. 'You had excellent alignment.'

Judge for yourselves. Here I am with others being a tree surrounded by warriors.
Actually, compared to the rest, many of whom had done yoga, I do look pretty good!

Then it was time for a picnic lunch, provided by YS, in the sun.
A good day.

Sounds like fun! I like your botanical sketches.

Happy that you had such a good outing and that you showed your form; although, I have no way of judging how good anyone's yoga pose is. Like you, I would have a hard time being entirely serious during such a session. Oh, well.
