Today, wanting to put the decorations away, Husband said, 'Did the stick ever turn up?'
'Oh, yes, I put it somewhere safe.'
Husband groaned.
'Oh come on,' I said, 'there aren't many places it could be.'
Husband is of course right to doubt me.
I'm not worried: it'll probably turn up again before next Christmas.
Much as I love Christmas and the decorations it's nice when they're down and the room is - albeit briefly - clean and tidy again.
After a short down spell - post-Christmas blues combined with forgetting to take my happy pill - I am up and at 'em again. Feeling full of life and ready to do ... everything!
Hence the taking down of decs. I normally wait until twelfth night, but I'm hoping I might get to go and see Mary Poppins tomorrow. Although in prison chapel they don't remove the crib until ... I can't remember. The chaplain did explain it. (Thank goodness for google: Candlemas day i.e. forty days after Christmas, this year, Saturday 2nd February. It commemorates the day Jesus was taken to the temple for blessing.)
Ooh, just had a message from Younger Son saying they're going to Verdi's if we want to join them. Silly question.

I have so many missing objects hidden in "safe places" that it's ridiculous. What is it about the aging brain?
We have one of those sticks to open the attic door too. I try to keep it in one place because I couldn't imagine opening the attic without it.
The good thing about it, Debra, is when one occasionally comes across a box of Maltesers hidden for safe keeping.
We usually keep it in one place, Terra, but the grandchildren found it and decided it would be a useful addition to their toys.
As one who can't even remember which pocket I've put my bus ticket in, I understand.
