A specific man. One who knows how to repair Miele washing machines.
The problem is that the washing cycle takes much longer than it says it will. For example, the towel wash is supposed to take 1 hour and 56 minutes. Yesterday after 1 hour and 36 minutes I checked on it: it still had 1 hour and 17 minutes to go.
Of course 'Taking longer than it says' doesn't feature on any of the tick boxes on the Service Request form. But I've booked an appointment for next Tuesday so we'll see if the man can work it out.
'I'm going to wash that man right out of my hair ...' Not entirely apt but if I'm going to live my life to a musical accompaniment it'll do for now.
Oh, yes, I should explain: I went to see Mary Poppins Returns this afternoon. The only thing that amazes me is the everyone doesn't come out of the cinema afterwards dancing. And whenever I see a musical I want to live one.
GrandSon2 went along with me and swung around poles and danced across benches; GrandDaughter1 was more restrained only joining in if there was no-one around. Such fun.
So yes, I loved it. Lots of nods to the original, good music and fun sequences. A little boring for children perhaps because today's youth have different viewing habits and are more used to instant amusement. But I was very happy.
Notice the penguins in this sequence.

Diagnosis at a distance is difficult,
but probably too much fluff being left in the condenser???
Liz:
Our washer seems to change the timing as well.... I *believe* in our machine this is purposeful. When the garments are more soiled or the basket is filled with thicker or heavier clothing, it seems to add minutes (sometimes many minutes) to the cycle. So, I am wondering if perhaps your machine is similar... perhaps there are sensors that adjust the timing depending upon some sort of "cleaning algorithm"? I suggest this because I have seen it often on our machine, but it NEVER happens when I simply used the traditional "times" setting instead of the special settings (like "heavy duty" or "delicates" etc). So, if your machine is similar, perhaps it is just "doing its thing"?
We are hoping to see "Mary Poppins" this week! I too love musicals (and my wife generally does as well).

My Miele seems to have a mind of its own , as well. It's supposed to be one of their selling points, I think.
As Pipe Tobacco wrote, our washing machine has sensors that adjust cycle times to fit conditions. The "time" shown is only a suggestion of how long (at the shortest) the action will last. (Our upright vacuum is a Miele, but not our washer and dryer.)
We attend up to five musical productions each year, having purchased season tickets each year since about 1972. All productions are in the summer because it is used as a workshop for local teens who would be too busy with school during the school year. I believe that the artistic director said, the other day, that there are currently about 40 performers now on Broadway (New York City) who were participants in the local teen program at various times.

The man is coming tomorrow so i shall tell you if your diagnosis is correct, Stu.
I don't know, Pipe Tobacco. Even the lightest 'hand' wash takes longer than the time stated. I shall be very cross if it is 'doing its thing'!
Is it, Sonata? I'm sure it didn't use to do this.
Cop Car, as I said to PT, I shall be very cross if it is just being clever! Wow! that's an impressive record for your teen program!
My daughter in law took youngest grandaughter age 5 now 6.. My 10 year old grandaughter didn't want to go. Nor did I . Really not a fan of musicals Nor of the cinema But I did go last year and watched Peter Rabbit eldest son and I took youngest grandaughter . It was quite good.
You know, of course, Liz, that I'm going to be laughing if the technician who shows up at your house is a woman. This comes to mind because it has never been my husband who has worked on/repaired our appliances. That has always fallen to me. Since our first washing machine purchased in early 1959, only once have I called in a repair person, preferring to take care of whatever issue myself. When our latest washer decided not to pump water out of the tub about 4-5 years ago, I let someone else do it. It cost about 30% the price of the washer. As long as she lived, my mother-in-law saved up household repairs for my next visit. My father-in-law, like his son (or vice versa), did not do household repairs.
