Our house stinks

But, unusually, we can't blame George.

No, this time it's Husband's fault: he's taken over the kitchen and is in full preserving mode making chilli jam, spicy tomato chutney and pickled onions.

His chilli and tomato plants have done exceedingly well as usual and while finding a mouth to eat tomatoes isn't difficult - GrandSon4 adores granddad's 'matoes - there are only so many chillies I can use in a year. Frozen or dried they keep very well but unless we ate very spicy food every day we'd never get through them so a few years ago Husband came up with this idea.
Just a few chillies

Bon Papa spiced tomato chutney
Husband has had to go out briefly and he's left me in charge. Only to stir and make sure it doesn't stick, you understand.

Stinky?!? From the sounds of what you are making.... it seems the aromas would be wonderful to me!!!! You are going to have a lot of great things in the end.

I agree with Pipe that you should have a delightful aroma filling your home, Liz. Ripe chili peppers are always so gorgeous! During the occasional year in which I plant them, most get dried and crushed to sprinkle on pizza and in many casseroles (as long as I don't try to feed them to Hunky Husband!)

Are you qualified for stirring? *chuckling*

Ha ha, "Bon Papa" -- I recognized the Bonne Maman jam jars right away, LOL!

If it smelled of chillies it wouldn't be too bad but the vinegar is overpowering! But, yes, the end result will be good, pipe tobacco.

I passed the stirring test, CC. Nothing stuck or burned.

They're very distinctive, Debra, and perfect with their wide mouths for ladling into.
