I did wonder. I wasn't entirely sure what I was supposed to do if the men, seeing the door unguarded, had all made a run for it. Thrust my body between them and it?
I don't think so.
Anyway it was locked.

Maybe he thought someone would come through the locked door and target your purple boots. Just a thoght...

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Purple boots = danger! now I know the attraction! lol
I'm sure that I wouldn't attempt to block a prisoner's escape. When I was an army officer a rather stupid 2nd lieutenant attempted to do that and ended up being stabbed with a knife.
I think he was more concerned about an attempt to kidnap your boots clearly :-)
