What a scrubber!

I blame you all.

Not one of you warned me that stone tiles are hard to clean. Ridiculously hard to clean. Or maybe it's just our light-coloured ones that are particularly dirt-grabbing.

I spent this afternoon, Cinderella-like, on my hands and knees scrubbing the kitchen floor. I ask you: is that any way to spend a Sunday afternoon?

I'd done about half and was exhausted so I stopped for a little rest. Husband, who was feeling guilty because he'd spent all day on the computer trying to prove that he's related to royalty, took up the mantle and finished it for me. I do love guilt.

By the way, Husband decided that he probably wasn't in line for the throne as the Mormons had got their facts wrong. No surprises there then.

Any roughish tiles are always hard to clean, and so is grouting. I've never found a quick and efficient way of dealing with either. Tiles may look pretty but they can be very high maintenance. As fast as someone invents a new labour-saving device, someone else invents a stylish bit of decor that's labour-increasing.....

When we moved here we had york stone tiles in the kitchen and hall (quite a big area) Absoloute nightmare as previous owner had'nt had them sealed :0/ We now have ceramic tiles which are so much easier!!

Sorry, I learned the lesson many years ago, and avoid anything so work intensive. I'm sure my housekeeper appreciates my making her day easier.

She has enough cleaning up after us and the dog whom she loves above everything else but her cats.

Watch out for those searches for the royalty among your ancestors. You might find something else. My greatgreatgreatgreatgreat grand somebody was kicked out of Plymouth Colony for pulling a knife on Miles Standish. And on the other side, my American Civil War great-grandfather was court-martialed for pulling a bayonet on his lieutenant.

I dropped it just as I was about to put it on, calum.

I wish you'd told me that before too, amanda!!

I've learned my lesson now, notwot.(! Do you like my typing?)

Husband has found a Governor of Connecticut amongst his forebears but mostly they're humble but honest labourers, katney. The criminals are probably all in my background!
