My Man Drawer

I had a very productive morning at work: I now have my own Man Drawer!

When Alun left last summer he bequeathed to me his three drawers and their contents. Such was the trauma of his involuntary redundancy that I haven't been able to face doing anything with the drawers until now.

So this morning I sorted them out and the bottom one is now officially my Man Drawer! For those of you who haven't seen the Michael McKintyre sketch a Man Drawer is one of those places that all men have and treasure. It contains vital things like bits of wire, a tape measure (one that goes whiss in and out), plugs, those black bent metal things, batteries and all the sort of stuff that I would never use but feel I can't throw away 'because it will come in useful one day.'

I feel like a new woman.

I still feel vulgaridadatationally puzzled as to precisely what a man drawer could or would do and be and function as in differing circumstances in the greater scheme of things...

ps word recognition was "rharg" ~ wel wel, doesn't that sound Cymraeg, on'd ydy!?!~??!?

PPS I think "on'd ydy" means something like "innit" "yn Gymraeg"...

PPPS remember that "gentleman" whom you encountered in Swansea nick who'd been busted attemptedly smuggling in a mobile telephone up the jaxxie... not only am I wondering how on earth he ever managed to sit comfortably ever again... but the subject came up in a parallel type of way today and I couldn't help thinking of you and wondering how on earth people manage to pull of little "stunts" like that... how vulgar and gross!

Is a "Man Drawer" not the male equivalent of a handbag but with much less "stuff" in it?

I thought you were going to tell us that you had a drawer stuffed with men, who would come in handy for all those little things a girl needs doing, but hubby is either not around, can't do them or you just fancy a change.

I think might have a smutty mind ha ha

Much love

My husband does too, anne!

Imagine it's full of men, gledwood ...

And I prefer not to think about how people do that sort of thing, gleds!

No, no, calum. A handbag is full of vital things - like old receipts, scruffy tissues, lego men.

Now that's the sort of man drawer we could all do with, lia!

I ended up as office boss and inherited an empty filing cabinet which one drawer was marked just "S" - we kept a bottle of sherry in it.

I was going to say the same as Anne!!!

And I get accused of taking up all the space :-O

Oh gosh! Every day Lorne brings something home from the Olympics site! Batteries galore! What on earth we'll ever use them for before their due date, I'll never know! And bits of screws and bits and bobs! And he complains when I leave ironing work on top of the dryer! *sigh*

Ooh, I don't have a man drawer, though I do have a few dubious bits and bobs "that I might need some time". But anything I haven't used for say, a couple of years gets thrown out. I'm absolutely not a hoarder, the less clutter around the place the happier I am.
