Step aside, Picasso!

A couple of months ago I bought a fat lady diver wall-hanging for the bathroom. (It only cost £1 at the charity shop and I'd fancied one for years.) Husband eventually got round to hanging her up but there was something not right. She looked a bit lost on our bathroom wall.

Then yesterday I had a brilliant idea. Husband quakes in his socks whenever I say that but what to do you think? Let me just say that it looked better in my head and I'm not an artist. In fact, I have the same technique with art as I do with hair-cutting.

'Whoops, that's a bit wonky; better take a bit more off the other side to even it.'

'Whoops, that's a bit rough; better make it a bit thicker to smooth it out. And add a different colour. And a few splashes. And a bit more paint, and sort of botch it about a bit.'

And I got a bit of paint on George. But it was his fault: he got in my way when I was wielding my stirring stick.

Poor George. Simi says: "I know how you feel. Sometimes when these mums swing into action a dog has to get out of the way!"

Like the lady - and the sea - btw.

I love it! It will give the Bath a bit of sass and personality--and you're right the water gives her someplace to go.

George looks as if he is practicing his pathetic look to make everyone feel sorry for him--I think the dollop of blue on his back is quite funny (but then, I do have a very strange sense of humor).

A vast improvement now that she has somewhere to dive.

Now you will be able to say, Have you seen the golden retriever with the blue paint stripe? when you are out searching for him.

Looks great cuz now she's diving into something!

When I was a teenager, we had a golden cocker spaniel. One day when my Dad was painting the house, the dog got into the paint (knocked the entire pail over) and was covered head to toe. My Dad took him to the vet where they shaved him completely bald. He looked so funny but it had to be done because of the toxicity of the paint. At least George only got a small stripe.

Funny my husband has much the same reaction when I say those words. However as far as painting is concerned he wouldn't let me near a paint brush. Since he had his own painting and decorating business for over 30 years he doesn't trust anyone else.

I've heard of "Blue Boy"; perhaps George is a new work of art--"Blue Dog" :) I like your lady diver, Liz; it would make me smile every time I took a bath.

What's wrong with that ? Looks fine to me. Does the Fat Lady sing in the bath... cos it ain't over until, etc.

I think it's a great improvement!

The mural/hanging thing, that is, not George's new coloured streak!
