at Zac's last night. I might have missed the last three weeks but some things don't change.
Gerry is still convinced he knows me.
'Yes, you see me here each week.'
'Noooo, noooo,' he argues.
Other things do change. Last time in Zac's, Ant had drunk a bottle of Jack Daniels and was barely conscious. Last night he hugged me and told me he'd been in hospital for the last 4 weeks but he was doing good now. 'They've changed my medication.' The levels still needs adjusting: he was a bit wobbly but it was good to see him beginning again.
We've just started to look at Paul's first letter to the church in Corinth. After the main bit of Bible study was done and Sean was about to close, Ant suddenly asked if Sean could give him something to read. Someone suggested 1 Corinthians 13, one of the most famous sections in the Bible. Ant asked to borrow some glasses and then began to stumble his way slowly through it.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It's not rude nor self-seeking. It's not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
No, some things don't change.

Truly, Liz. Truly.
So it was good to be back.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
A bit like true friendship too.
