George helps

George was definitely off somewhere, probably rummaging in the heavenly rubbish bins, when God was giving out brains.

Husband took him out yesterday and he, George that is, was set upon by two Jack Russells, one clinging onto his lip, the other gripping his leg. Their owner managed to dislodge them and what does George do? What would a dog with no brain do? That's right, run straight back to them. 'I know you're only joking and you want to play with me really!'

Today I took him out and the first dog we saw was a Jack Russell. George went bounding up to him to be greeted with a 'Grrrrrr'. George turned and, tail between his legs, beat a hasty retreat, bearing a striking resemblance to Cap'n Jack Sparrow as he did so.

Cap'n Jack, of course, kept on running away until he was safe. George stopped after about 10 yards, had a little think, and ran back again. 'I know you're only joking and you want to play with me really.'

'Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!'

Whoops.

It's so hard loving dogs and children and people when so many dogs and children and people don't seem to love you back.

But there may be hope. He might be seeing the light.

Today Husband and Younger Son were digging holes and putting up new fences to replace the blown-down ones. George helped them for some time, mostly by filling in holes they'd just dug and retrieving rubbish they'd got rid of, when he noticed a gap in the hedge next to the gate of next-door's Bible College. He straightaway felt called. Hallelujah, brother!

Always something to blog about when you have a George, well you don't ever seem to have any dry days.

Your frustrations with George give me such a laugh - only because I can relate! :D

Nice thing about dogs ... it's like having a 5 year old running about the house for 12 or so years.
