In the woods today
Younger Son said, 'I need a long piece of wood. Will you look for one when you're in the woods with George today?'
'How long?'
'This long,' He stretched his arms out wide.
About one third of the way into our walk I found the ideal piece of wood and picked it up, completely ignoring the fact that I would then have to carry it the remaining two thirds, a task not helped by George periodically trying to eat it. The things we do for our children.
Speaking of children, Elder Son works and lives in London; this week he's in Brussels working. Daughter lives and works in Devon; today she's in London for work. Meanwhile Younger Son has made something amazing (but I can't say what yet). It's strange to think of these intelligent, creative and capable young people once having my been my babies.

Lovely pics, as always, and good to know George is being helpful, too!
My immediate reaction:
What sparse woods you have!
I'm used to the dense ones we have here, you couldn't go 5 yards without hitting a tree.
Nice photos tho'
Your woods look quite like my woods here in Cornwall. Collecting sticks is fun and you don't need a reason. Love the pix of trees they are always beautiful with or without leaves.
Lovely photos, Liz! I know what you mean about your 'babies'. I looked at Dear Hubby the other day and said, "Do you realize our son is now going to be the father of two babies of his own?!" Funny how those realizations will suddenly hit us, isn't it? For some reason, the thought of that just blew me away the other day! Seems like yesterday it was HIM setting out to have his first 'big boy' haircut, as Dylan will be this weekend. Hard to believe it was almost 3o years ago!!!!
