Bara brith (speckled bread) is the traditional fruit bread of Wales. Sliced and spread with butter, it's delicious. Strictly speaking what I make isn't the true bara brith, but a version of sultana bread that goes down well with all the family. This one - that I made this morning - won't last long!

Why thank you for the kind comment! I'm glad that I'm not considered small for a tomcat.
Sadly, I didn't get any mushroom frittata the last time she made it. I am working on mommy to give us a little taste....
Your bread looks very tasty! I can see why it would go quick!
PS. The above post was from me, Donny. I just hi-jack my sister's blog to post. :)

Yes, I'd love to have a recipe for this, it looks like my (english) mother-in-law's tea bread -- great for eating with a nice hot cup of tea!

That looks WONDERFUL! There is nothing like fresh baked bread, or even a photo of it, to make the mouth water. I wish I was there to help eat it! Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Liz,
that looks great, where's the recipe? Is it yeast bread or quick bread? I love fruit bread.
Oooh, yum...save me a piece!
I think the Irish equivalent would be 'Tea Brack'. I don't know how to say it in Irish though!
Judging from the volume of comments, your readers like the look and aroma of the bread. I can taste it from here, especially with fresh, cool, creamery butter, not that chemical crap they sell in little plastic tubs.
Please take my order for a couple of hot loaves. If it freezes OK, then perhaps another dozen...
Looks a little like a fruit cake.
I'm on the next plane over!
