Saturday Photohunt - Glass

A bottle of Penderyn, Welsh whisky, alongside a tasting glass. This tulip-shaped glass is used by professional tasters in the whisky industry. It's better than the traditional chunky wide-mouthed glass, as it retains more of the aroma, making the drink even more pleasurable for whisky lovers.
Advice on drinking malt whisky
Don't pour malt whisky onto ice as this kills the aromas and neutralises the tastebuds.
Don't add mixers; a tiny drop of water, preferably from the same source as the whisky, is the only permissible mixer.

I do like peaty scotch malt but I have never tried Welsh malt. I think I need to change that ;-)

I'm not a whisky connoisseur, but appreciate the tips.

You're absolutely right with your tips but "Welsh"? Only thing to do is bin it and buy a good bottle of Scotch! :-)

I never knew there was Welsh whiskey but I should have known. I hope you had a tipple while taking the photo.

Now Calum!

I can see that we could all be thoroughly inebriated by evening. Did you know that Jack Daniels is allegedly a Welsh beverage?
Good choice.

WOW! The things I DON'T know about whiskey! Neat!

I'm a scotch drinker, so this looks like something I'd really like to taste. Thanks for visiting Spatter...and yes, that really is glass. Chihuly is an artist whose medium is blown glass. His work is gorgeous, and because he usually displays it in gardens it's all the more so.

I thoroughly approve of your drinking tips - never adulterate whiskey!
I've not tried Penderyn, but I enjoy the whiskey invented by Llanelli-born Jack Daniels.

So fussy, just get it down ...lol

Is it flavoured with leeks? I had no idea that there was Welsh Scotch whiskey.

Have a great weekend.

Terrific photo of the matching bottle and glass. Our dad enjoys whisky on occasion.

Happy Saturday to you, and happy hunting!!!

Interesting... too bad I don't drink.

A lot of people drink whisky with mixer most probably cause they can't stand the burning sensation down the throat.
Your post is very informative :) Thanks for sharing the tips.
Have a good weekend!

Sorry but I'm not a whiskey drinker. Great photo for the theme though.

Good take on the theme and lovely photograph. I used to drink malt whiskey occasionally in over sized glasses and although it's been a while I recall the wonderful taste and aroma.

OK, I follow your advice if I still remember after the first glass, lol !

Knew about Scotch whisky and Irish whiskey but didn't know that there was such a thing as Welsh whisky until reading your Photo Hunt entry this week! ;b

Nice pic for this week's theme - with an added Welsh flavour. I'm not a whiskey drinker (yuck!), but I love the colour of it! Have a lovely weekend, despite our increasingly dismal weather.

Penderyn - interesting, never heard about it, or Welsh malt in general. Have to try. And people who pour malt whisky onto ice should be... oh well...

Great stuff and have a great weekend.

I don't actually drink alcohol at all! But Husband loves malt whisky and I've written articles about it.

I'm not much of a whiskey drink but I'd try a little of this in a glass like that just for the experience.

Great choice for "glass."

I've never tried Welsh malt, either... I used to work in a liquor store, but I don't believe we carried Welsh...

Great tips!

Thanks for stopping by!

I love malts, especially the nice peaty Island ones. I've not had a welsh one though. Happy weekend!

Thanks for stopping by my PhotoHunt.

I think in America, most whiskey drinkers, they just want a shot glass to get drunk.

I'm a beer drinker myself... a nice pint of Guinness floats my boat any day!

Re that decanter - it all started several years ago, with a wine tasting course. Than it all went downhill ;-)

you've got my husband drooling here! When we get to Wales again in the future (Lord willing) we'll have to try some Welsh whisky for sure...

It seems Jams and I have the same idea on malt whisky ;-)
