Bad grammar?

A sentence in my previous post is bothering me.

I wrote: He was wading in quite deeply ...

Should that be deep or deeply? Does it describe the way he was wading? No, not really. So it should be deep. Should it?

Why has Blogger stopped spell-checking? Is it me? Or Blogger?
